1. What skill areas are included in the app?

Dots and Skills is built around the following eight core skill categories:

  • Creative Mind

  • Problem Solving

  • Art and Literature

  • Communication

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Mathematics

  • Being a Good Person

  • Technology and Science

These categories aim to support children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and practical development in a balanced way.

2. How were these categories selected? Are they based on science?

Yes. The categories were developed by experts in education and child development, drawing on theories such as multiple intelligences (Gardner), constructivism (Piaget, Vygotsky), and current best practices in holistic learning.

3. Can a single task relate to more than one category?

Yes. Some tasks are clearly linked to one category, while others are transdisciplinary and support multiple skills at once—for example, a task may encourage both “Problem Solving” and “Communication.”

4. My child rarely receives tasks from certain categories. Is that normal?

Yes, it’s possible. The system may prioritize categories where growth is needed. However, in the long run, the system is designed to provide a balanced distribution across all skill areas.

5. If my child excels in a certain category, will they only get tasks from that area?

No. While strengths are recognized, the app aims to develop a broad range of skills. The system continues to offer variety and ensures that other abilities are also nurtured.

6. Is there a balance between the categories?

Yes. Our task distribution algorithm is designed to maintain balance. Over time, each category will be represented in the task stream, and this balance is also reflected in weekly/monthly reports.

7. How is skill development measured? Is it only based on scores?

Progress is not based solely on scores. The system also evaluates originality, creativity, depth of thought, and alignment with the task. Feedback quality, task volume, and parent comments also play a role in measuring growth.

8. Do all children get the same set of categories?

Yes, all users work within the same eight categories. However, the distribution and order of tasks is personalized based on the child’s age, prior performance, and learning profile.

9. Can we choose which categories to focus on?

Yes. In the Progress page, the “Set Your Priorities” feature allows you to choose which skills to emphasize. These preferences help the system adjust which tasks are offered more frequently.

10. Are the categories updated over time?

Yes. While the core framework remains stable, the categories may evolve based on user feedback, research trends, and educational insights. The goal is to keep the structure relevant and meaningful.
